In which we vacate Chapel Hill in July, 2011, and head to London, Lourmarin and Paris.
6/30: Our trip begins in London
London is a great place to recover from jet lag before facing France. Sleep-deprived but happy, we landed in Heathrow and found our hotel and breakfast.
We walked around the Tower Hill area until our rooms were ready. Here's the first of many posed shots with the boys. They're smiling because "we're standing next to a trash can."
We crossed the Millennium Bridge and on the south bank of the Thames, we found a strip of gorgeous aspens by the Tate Museum.
The next day, we were thrilled to be joined by Mindy, and her son's stand-in, "Kitty," aka "Benoit." We immediately headed to Westminster Abbey. Mary Ellen and Mindy went straight for the coffee stand.
Our trip was very well-documented. Keith found this lovely memorial to Martin Luther King, Jr. outside Westminster Abbey. Mindy took this shot of the chariot statue and the London Eye. After lunch, some of us headed to King's Road, Sloan Square and Harrod's.
The first of many memorable dinners, we loved the fun and funky Boathouse in Putney. Keith and Ethan headed to the London Eye afterwards.
